Finances on Separation
On the breakdown of any relationship, be it a marriage, civil partnership or someone you have been living with, there are often very complex financial issues to be resolved. These can include what is to happen to the family home, how will savings and other capital assets be divided, who is to be responsible for any debts, and what (if any) ongoing maintenance is payable?
If there are children of the relationship it may be possible to apply to the Court for financial provision which includes meeting their housing and other needs.
Within proceedings for divorce and the dissolution of a civil partnership, wider issues such as pension sharing and the division of business assets can be taken into account
